To provide technical and administrative support to the Banks and Diversified Financials Teams, working directly with 6 analysts. Opportunity to work within a major investment bank in a leading research house that is developing distinct and thematic research product offerings. Based in Canary Wharf.

Key Tasks 

Reports               

  • Assist in the coordinating of single stock, industry wide and occasional global perspective publications involving: word processing, document formatting, proof reading, creation of graphics, manipulation of tables, transferring financial data from various applications and market data sources, liaison with editorial, production, distribution and compliance personnel, quality control to minimise editing routines and some financial modeling of companies under coverage (including manipulation of financial data sourcing from DataCentral and Datastream).

 Notes                  

  • Assist in coordination and production of research Notes and liaison with the Publications Group to disseminate the product as quickly as possible. 

Conferences       

  • Help organise occasional investor lunches, conferences and roadshows (in conjunction with the analysts, sales teams and Corporate Events) for both the UK and the rest of Europe. This requires coordination across different divisions within Citi, as well as directly with companies and clients.

 Clients                 

  • Help deal with bespoke requests for research and financial data from clients and assist in the organisation and communication of client events.

Team                   

  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to the team: organise travel, process expenses, diary management, organise meetings, answer phones and filing. 

Data Management

  • Prepare, maintain and manipulate data tables within Excel.
  • Create charts and graphics (e.g. with Excel ChartWizard, Datastream, PowerPoint) for inclusion in reports and presentations.
  • Obtain market and company information and historic data via Datastream, Reuters, Bloomberg and various internet sources.
  • Use DataCentral (in-house database) to extract data for comparative analysis and build basic models.
  • Maintain and update internal databases comprising company valuation data and client contact information.
  • Prepare marketing presentations and maintain standard team presentations using PowerPoint.
  • Source and create tables/graphics for reports and client presentations.
  • Liaising with Citi Library and US/European counterparts in a data gathering capacity.
  • Manipulate data across various applications e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint and in-house databases.

Administration

  • Organise and manage extensive and detailed travel arrangements.
  • Organise and manage client entertaining/roadshows/conferences.
  • Manage the marketing element of the analyst role (create/maintain presentations, creation and maintenance of marketing schedules, arrange for the delivery of relevant material etc), and liaise with US/European counterparts to arrange aspects of various travel/meeting requirements.
  • Manage team diaries and analysts time effectively.
  • Process expenses and invoices.
  • Assist in the production of research reports from setting up the document to publishing the report and sending out to the clients.
  • Provide telephone cover for the team, acting as a link to analysts within the department, firm and external entities. Uphold key confidentiality when liaising with clients.
  • Maintain filing systems and team publications stocks.

  • Ability to remain calm and efficient, particularly when working to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and re-prioritise tasks continually.
  • Methodical approach and strong organizational capabilities.

Skills

  • Advanced Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with the ability to produce charts and graphs.
  • Sound understanding of database modeling techniques with the ability to quickly grasp the use of non-Windows applications and in-house databases.
  • A strong command of the English language (oral and written) is essential.
  • Knowledge of P&L, balance sheet and cashflow statements and good understanding of key accounting ratios and modeling techniques would be a distinct advantage.

Qualifications

  • Candidates will ideally have experience working within the investment banking industry, preferably within an Equity Research environment.
  • Minimum typing speed of 30 wpm.

Additional Requirements 

Working hours are 0900 to 1700 but will be required to work additional hours when required, particularly during hectic reporting periods.
